Black Friday 2015 at Bicester Village

BLACK FRIDAY 2015

Black Friday 2014 burned an impression into the memory of every resident who experienced the chaos and gridlock caused by Bicester Village.  Traffic came to a standstill, businesses were forced to close early, people were late for work, people couldn't get home and some of us even had our front gardens used as car parks.

This year the management of Bicester Village tell us that they are doing everything possible to avoid a re-occurence by not having a Black Friday.

Yet with opening times from 7am to midnight, openingly advertising for staff for Black Friday and covering our town once more with signs to tell their customers how to behave reasonably many of the folk remain sceptical.

You have my full support. Bicester Village has done massive damage to our existence in and around Bicester. I shall not repeat what has already been said by many many local people, but I see a lot of Bicester folk in the course of my work, and they all despise the over-bearing attitude of the management and customers. I am being forced to think of moving house.

I moved away, because of Bicester Village. It has been on National news that the new park and ride will open early to ease the congestion. So although they did not actually mention BLACK FRIDAY, we all know what is going to happen. Good luck locals

There are no cones or signs along Kings Avenue which has always been inundated with selfish Bicester Village shoppers. Tomorrow will tell how effective (or not) all the measures that have been put in place actually work. Am I confident it will ..... NO!

I was amused, if that is the right word, to read in the Badvertsier that Bicester Village was objecting to the new business and retail park because it will cause traffic problems. How dare they? Biceser Village has caused far more problems than it has brought to the town in revenue.

Friday 09.35 and the BV car park full signs just been put up on Neun Kirchen / Seelscheid Way.
The additional car parking off Buckingham Road is clearly signed from A41 Rodney House roundabout . The site is open and looks ready to roll. There are now temporary traffic lights at the entrance to the parking area.

All quiet, few cars in P&R , no activity seen on the Buckingham Road alternative car parking, tho it is open. 11.00 Bicester town centre very quiet, few cars, only traffic issue being London Road gas works lights. Was told by a market trader and shop assistants that it was unusually 'slow' . The theory being that locals were wary to venture out for fear of getting stuck in traffic jams.
Was told earlier (3p.m) that things were getting busier at BV so went and had a look. It's busier on a Sunday morning at 10.00 a.m.
Traffic management staff and 2 police motorcyclists seen this morning, not visible this afternoon.
Easy to park in Sainsbury car parking this morning and that's unusual on market day.
It's the town centre businesses that I feel sorry for, they have lost out two years running .

No problems yesterday! All traffic was fine! You got to hold your hands up and say it has been managed well!
